Hi, I’m Tina. I live on California’s Central Coast– right on the outskirts of America’s Happiest City, San Luis Obispo, as dubbed by a video on Oprah.com in 2011. I hope to help you optimize your brain health so you can be happy too (even if you don’t live close to America’s Happiest City).
I have always been enthralled by science and scientists. In elementary school, my book report topics included the bubonic plague, barber surgeons, Elizabeth Blackwell (the first women to receive a medical degree in the United States), and Louis Pastor. In eight grade, at a science fair, I received an honorable mention for my research paper, “Garlic as a Medicine,” plus $50. After that experience, I dreamed of becoming a microbiologist (who made lots of money)!
Not all of my childhood dreams came true, but I am still fascinated by science and I enjoy research.
Today, some of my favorite topics deal with neurology and environmental medicine. I’m interested in how the brain functions and why there are so many neurological disorders. My family has a history of Alzheimer’s disease and I would love for there to be a cure. In the meantime, I’ll share the latest and greatest brain facts.
Here’s to a happy and healthy brain in San Luis Obispo County and beyond!
